Time for Israel to wake up

BRITISH Ambassador to Tel Aviv has warned the Israeli leadership that international support for the Jewish state was declining. He particularly stated that there was a growing concern in the United Kingdom over lack of progress towards peace with the Palestinians.

Though the Ambassador said that Israelis might wake up in 10 years time and find out that the level of understanding in the international community has suddenly changed but in our view this is the time for Israel to wake up and right now. We say so because unrest in Palestine and the Middle East is on the rise and the Jewish State must read writing on the wall. Though pragmatism is the hallmark of the new governments being formed in the middle east and they are very careful in expressing their opinion about Israel, but their genesis and charters are clearly against the policies of Israel. Even in Europe, the governments do not openly criticize Israel due to strong influence of Jewish lobbies there, yet as Ambassador Mathew Gould said the level of understanding in the international community has changed and the patience for continuing the status quo has reduced. Otherwise too in the present era , peace is need of the hour which cannot be restored in the Middle East if Israel continues its delaying tactics in reaching an agreement with the Palestinians. We think it is in the interest of Tel Aviv to accept the land for peace formula advanced by King Abdullah, agree to early establishment of an Independent Palestinian State and allow return of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees to their homes as that is the only way out.
