A Cold War Might Be Heating Up: China’s New Missiles, America’s New Shield

The United States is planning to build a new missile defence shield in Asia to contain threats from North Korea and counter China’s growing missile capabilities.

A defensive array could include a new radar system in southern Japan and possibly another in South East Asia, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The news came after an unnamed US official told Jane’s Defence Weekly that China’s People’s Liberation Army tested an intercontinental ballistic missile on July 24 which has the range to strike any city in the United States.

The DF-41 missile can carry ten separate nuclear warheads, each of which can be programmed to strike at a different target, the magazine reported.

The Pentagon is also concerned about China’s development of a new “carrier-killer” anti-ship missile that can strike at the US Pacific fleet.

These missiles, which have a range of 930 miles, are designed to prevent US ships from approaching the South China Sea, a key sphere of Chinese influence.

US Defence officials told the Wall Street Journal that the core of the new anti-missile shield would be a powerful early-warning radar, known as an X-Band, sited on a southern Japanese island. Discussions between Japan and the United States are currently underway.

The new X-Band would join an existing radar that was installed in northern Japan in 2006 and a third X-Band could be placed in South East Asia.

The resulting radar arc would cover North Korea, China and possibly even Taiwan. China currently has over 1,000 missiles pointed at Taiwan, and is likely to strenuously object to any interference from the US.

A spokesman for the Japanese Defence ministry declined to comment. A spokesman for the Pentagon told the newspaper that North Korea is the “immediate threat” that is “driving our missile defence decision making”.

India’s Weak Nuclear Watchdog Poses Grave Risks

India’s nuclear energy regulator is weak and lacks independence which poses “grave risks” to the country, the national auditor warned on Thursday in a report.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said it had analysed the performance of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) in light of the expansion of nuclear power in energy-starved India.

It warned that the organisation was effectively a ‘subordinate office’ to the central government and had no powers to make rules, monitor safety at nuclear power plants or enforce standards.

“Failure to have an autonomous and empowered regulator is fraught with grave risks,” the CAG concluded in its report, pointing to the lessons learned from the Fukushima disaster in Japan last year. It added: “There is an urgent need for the government to bolster the status of AERB if it is to qualify as an independent regulator in a sector which is likely to become increasingly important.”

Responsibility for monitoring exposure to radioactive substances at nuclear power plants lay with the operators not the AERB, and the regulator had no power to put in place emergency procedures, the CAG said. Neither did it have any oversight of the decommissioning process for nuclear power plants, for which there is “no legislative framework”, and it had no way of confirming that radioactive waste was disposed of safely. India is heavily dependent on coal and produces less than three percent of its energy from its existing atomic plants. The government hopes to raise the figure to 25 percent by 2050.

In the most recent accident at a nuclear plant, more than 40 workers at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station in northern India were exposed to tritium radiation in June and July, although none of them was seriously harmed. The CAG also highlighted the AERB’s lax monitoring of other radiation centres, including medical X-ray facilities or other industrial centres using radioactive substances.

In April 2010, a machine from Delhi University containing cobalt-60, a radioactive metal used for radiotherapy in hospitals, ended up in a scrapyard in the city. It killed a worker and led seven other to be hospitalised. “Around 91 percent of the medical X-ray facilities in the country had not been registered with AERB and as such were out of its regulatory control,” the report said.

Meanwhile, India, which is going to import uranium from Australia, will dismantle its nuclear regulator (AERB), replacing the current expert panel with a government-controlled body, a move being blasted by critics as a ‘sham’.
Legislation before the Indian Parliament will result in the AERB being replaced with the Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority. The authority will be answerable to a clutch of government ministers who can direct the regulator, and even sack its members, giving rise to allegations the new body will be captive to government.

China’s missile advances aimed at thwarting US defenses, analysts say

China is moving ahead with the development of a new and more capable generation of intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched missiles, giving it a greater capability to hit targets in the United States and to overwhelm any missile defense systems, US media quoting military analysts reported on Saturday.

China’s steady improvements in its military capabilities have caused concern in Congress and among American allies in East Asia, particularly as the improvements have coincided with a more assertive Chinese position regarding territorial claims in the East China Sea and South China Sea.

The Global Times, a newspaper directly controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, reported on Wednesday that China was developing the capability to put multiple warheads on intercontinental ballistic missiles, or ICBMs. But the newspaper disputed a report in Jane’s Defense Weekly that the latest Chinese ICBM, the Dongfeng-41, had already been tested last month.

Larry Wortzel, a former U.S. military intelligence officer and retired Army colonel who is now a commissioner of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, a panel created by Congress, said that China was developing the capability to put as many as 10 nuclear warheads on an ICBM plus a series of dummy warheads. The dummy warheads would have heat and electromagnetic devices designed to trick missile defense systems into perceiving them as being as threatening as the actual warheads, he said.

“The bigger implication of this is that as they begin to field a force of missiles with multiple warheads, it means everything we assume about the size of their nuclear arsenal becomes wrong,” he said.

China has separately tested submarine-launched missiles as well in recent weeks, and could use these to outflank American missile detection systems, Colonel Wortzel said. Most of the radar arrays that the United States has deployed to detect ballistic missiles were built during the cold war to detect attacks over polar routes.

Sun Zhe, a professor of international relations at Tsinghua University in Beijing and a frequent commentator on U.S.-China relations, said that China was developing its military forces only to respond to continued efforts by other countries, particularly the United States, to continue improving their own forces. “We have again and again said that we will not be the first country to use nuclear force,” he said. “We need to be able to defend ourselves, and our main threat, I’m afraid, comes from the United States.”

The United States has been mulling where it can best place additional high-tech radar systems designed to track ballistic missiles. American forces currently have one in northern Japan and others that are deployed from time to time at sea. The Wall Street Journal reported this week on discussions of whether to put two more on land, in southern Japan and in Southeast Asia.

American officials have said repeatedly that their main concern is North Korea, which has been testing long-range missiles and developing nuclear weapons. But Chinese officials and experts have been deeply suspicious that American missile defense systems are aimed at their country’s forces as well.

“I have no doubt that the one of the goals of the missile defenses is to contain threats from North Korea, but objectively speaking, a high-tech expansion of U.S. military biceps impacts China, too,” said Shi Yinhong, a professor of international relations at Renmin University in Beijing, adding that discussions have taken place in China on whether to develop missile defense systems as well.

Russia: We have guarantees Assad won’t move or use Syria’s chemical weapons

Speaking in an interview to The Associated Press, Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Russia is working closely with the Assad regime to make sure its arsenal of chemical weapons is secure.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s point man on Syria said on Thursday that Moscow has guarantees from the Syrian government that it will not use or move its chemical weapons.

Speaking in an interview to The Associated Press, Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said that Russia is working closely with the Syrian government to make sure its arsenal of chemical weapons remains securely in place and does not fall into the hands of terrorists.

President Barack Obama warned earlier this week that the United States might be forced to intervene in the Syrian civil war if the Syrian government were to use or move such weapons of mass destruction.

Obama said that if Syria were to use chemical or biological weapons, this would be a “red line” for the U.S.

“We have been very clear to the Assad regime but also to other players on the ground that a red line for us is [if] we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation,” Obama said.

Gatilov said Russia is in full agreement with the Americans on the need to prevent Syria’s chemical weapons from being used.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Network for Human Rights said that 109 people were killed across Syria by security force gunfire on Thursday, according to an Al Arabiya report. Al Arabiya also reported that a Syrian activist group fears that Assad’s forces was set to execute 100 prisoners in the Jobar neighborhood of Syria’s capital Damascus.

Romney open to sending troops to Syria

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Friday that he would send U.S. troops to Syria if needed to prevent the spread of chemical weapons.

“I think we have to also be ready to take whatever action is necessary to ensure that we do not have any kind of weapon of mass destruction falling into the hands of terrorists and whether that requires troops, or whether that requires other actions by our friends and allies,” Romney said in an interview with CBS News.

Romney specifically noted that Turkey and Saudi Arabia have been involved in the region.

The former Massachusetts governor has limited foreign policy experience, but has so far outlined bullish positions on potential threats in the Middle East. He also told CBS News that he’d be willing to go to war to stop Iran from “becoming nuclear.”

“No question in my view that we can put all manner of pressure on the regime that’s there, but they have to also know that a military option is one which we’d be willing to consider if they do not take action to dissuade a course towards nuclearization,” Romney said of Iran.

President Barack Obama has left open the possibility of military action on Iran should aggressive sanctions and international pressure fail. On Syria, the president said Monday that the U.S. would reconsider its opposition to military involvement in Syria if President Bashar Assad’s regime uses chemical or biological weapons. He called such action a “red line” for the U.S.

“We have communicated in no uncertain terms with every player in the region, that that’s a red line for us, and that there would be enormous consequences if we start seeing movement on the chemical weapons front, or the use of chemical weapons,” Obama said. “That would change my calculations significantly.”

Syrian Envoy: Syria Capable of Destroying Israeli Nuclear Sites With 20 Missiles

Says Action Would Be Taken Only if Attacked First

Syrian Ambassador to Jordan Bahjat Suleiman has warned in an interview earlier this week that Syria is prepared to attack Israel’s nuclear weapons facilities in retaliation for any Israeli attack, and that he believes the sites could be destroyed with just 20 missiles.

“What the Zionists have, nuclear weapons-wise, could cause us major casualties should they attack Syria. In contrast, we could cause massive losses to their nuclear facilities and we wouldn’t need more than 20 missiles,” Suleiman told a press delegation.

Suleiman reportedly went on to say that Syria would never be the one to start a war with Israel, but that they would “not stand idly by” if attacked. Israeli officials raised the possibility of attacking Syria and trying to capture their chemical weapons and most advanced conventional weapons last month.

Though it does not publicly acknowledge them, Israel is known to have a significant arsenal of nuclear weapons. The exact size of this arsenal is not known, but is estimated to include a few hundred warhead

US Scholars: Designate Israeli Extremists as Terrorists

Amid a rising spate of Jewish extremist violence in Israel and the occupied West Bank, two prominent US Middle East scholars are urging the United States to officially designate as terrorists those Israeli extremists who perpetrate terrorist violence against Palestinian civilians, Israeli citizens and even moderate elements of the settler movement.

The US, “much like Israel…, should consider designating individuals involved in acts of violence against Palestinians as terrorists,” Daniel Byman and Natan Sachs, researchers at the Brookings Institution Saban Center, wrote in the current issue of Foreign Afffairs.

“Such a designation would allow US authorities to prevent Americans from sending them funding and would be a way to support those Israelis seeking to combat the rise of extremism,” they continue.

Israeli leaders unusually forcefully condemned “as hate crimes” and “terror” an attempted lynching of Palestinian youths by a mob of Israeli teenagers in West Jerusalem’s Zion Square last week. Israeli authorities arrested seven Israeli teenagers suspected in the attack, which came on the same day a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Palestinian taxi near the West Bank settlement of Bat Ayin, in which five members of a Palestinian family and the driver were burned.

“We unequivocally condemn racist violence and urge the police and law enforcement community to act expeditiously to bring the perpetrators to justice,” said Mark Regev, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The hate crimes which were carried out against Arabs over the weekend in the West Bank and Jerusalem are intolerable and must be dealt with using a heavy hand,”Israeli Vice Premier Moshe “Bogie” Ya’alon, from Israel’s ruling Likud party, said on August 19. “These are acts of terror with all that implies and are against Jewish ethics and values and are first and foremost an educational and moral failing.”

Such language from Israeli leaders to condemn Jewish extremist violence ”is a game-changer in terms of the discourse,” veteran Israeli peace activist Daniel Seidemann wrote in an analysis posted by the Atlantic’s Jeff Goldberg. “It’s not only the ‘Arabists’ at State that call this terror, this is from our deputy prime minister, who is not about to get a prize from B’Tselem (Israel’s most prominent human rights group).”

“Calling these acts ‘terrorism’ is very important,” Foreign Affairs’ co-author Sachs said in a press call organized by the Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday. “It represents a break between the mainstream right and this violent fringe. More and more settler leaders see this as a stain on their own political cap.”

Sachs said that while the Israeli leaders’ forceful denunciation of the violence is encouraging, more vigilance and legal tools are needed to protect Palestinian civilians, especially amid the stalemated Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

“With the peace process in a stalemate, Israel’s control of the West Bank is not likely to end soon, and the government cannot ignore the persistent settler violence by claiming that the settlement issue will soon be resolved as part of a peace deal,” Byman and Sachs wrote in Foreign Affairs.

“In arguing that Israeli and American authorities should designate these as acts of terrorism, we are joining Israeli officials — generals, the vice premier, to describe these attacks,” Sachs said.

“Designating individuals as terrorists means a host of legal [tools] come into play,” Sachs explained. “That means legally US citizens would be forbidden from funding these organizations,” thus reducing financial and ideological support for extremists whose acts of destabilizing violence are aimed at intimidating and thwarting the legitimacy of the Israeli state and the Palestinian authority.

The State Department has listed acts of Jewish extremist violence in its annual terrorism reports going back to 2008, but has not formally designated perpetrators, such as the so-called “price tag” gang, as terrorists.

On Wednesday, the State Department joined Israel leaders in harshly condemning the Israeli teenagers’ attacks on Palestinian youths, which left a Palestinian teenager, Jamal Julani, in a coma for two days.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the senseless act of hate and violence committed against a Palestinian youth in Jerusalem on August 17,” The State Department said. “We wish victim Jamal Julani a speedy recovery.”

“Discriminatory acts of violence undermine and discredit efforts toward peace and security between Israelis and Palestinians,” the State Department statement continued. “We welcome Prime Minister Netanyahu’s unequivocal condemnation of racism and violence and his call for a full police investigation. The perpetrators of this hateful crime must be held to account.”

DOJ secretly halts FBI investigation into Israel nuclear spying/funding

The US Department of Justice has refused to publicly release a memo that outlines why an Israeli entity caught spying on the U.S. would not be investigated further.
Documentation of Israeli nuclear spying 20 years ago

In 1992 the FBI discovered that the Weizmann Institute of Science of Rehovot in Israel penetrated secure U.S. computer systems at the Yuma Proving Ground with the help of a U.S. computer science student. The FBI investigation further documented evidence that Weizmann was engaged in clandestine nuclear weapons research supported by its U.S. fundraising arm, the “American Committee for the Weizmann Institute.”

Yet on May 18, 1993 the Justice Department Office of Intelligence Policy and Review ordered the Assistant FBI director to terminate their Weizmann Institute counterintelligence investigation.
Department of Justice refuses to release the memo

IRmep fought for public release of the Justice Department termination order via a Mandatory Declassification Review. Three days ago, on August 21, 2012, the National Security Division claimed it had declassified the memo, but then refused to publicly release it.

Such a tactical move keeps the memo from being publicly reviewed to see what justification (or lack thereof) existed for calling off the Weizmann investigation. If the memo isn’t classified, it cannot be reviewed for declassification release by the outside Interagency Security Classifications Appeals Panel (ISCAP).

If the entire memo is protected by a number of dubiously applied “privacy” and law enforcement exceptions, the public will never be able to fit the investigation into a larger pattern of suspicious DOJ forbearance into conventional and nuclear arms related smuggling, quashed espionage investigations of AIPAC, clandestine public relations campaigns and Israel lobby attempts to subvert the U.S. electoral process.

Top of the Agenda: Obama Threatens Syria With Military Intervention

U.S. President Barack Obama yesterday warned the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that the United States would intervene militarily if it employed its stockpile of unconventional weapons (NYT) in its eighteen-month battle with opposition forces. Syria is suspected of maintaining chemical weapons, but it is unclear whether the regime has biological weapons in its arsenal. While Obama has shied away from calls by some at home and abroad to implement a no-fly zone over Syria or arm the opposition, he said the circulation or use of unconventional weapons "would change my calculus."

"While so far the United States and Europe have decided that the conflict is too complicated to resolve with a Libya-like mission, most countries in the region are taking sides. The Shiite-led states support the government. On the other side, Sunni states back the rebels. Saudi Arabia and Qatar have provided weapons and cash. The Turkish Prime Minister discreetly established a border base camp for regime officers defecting to the F.S.A. Away from the Muslim world, the conflict has been no less divisive," writes the New Yorker's Jon Lee Anderson.

"Those arguing for military intervention say the longer the United States holds back, the less influence Washington will have with the rebels. But even if American troops could safely land a whole new president and parliament in Damascus, that's no guarantee the replacement regime will be grateful. Debts of thanks are almost never bankable and often make for resentments," writes Newsweek's Christopher Dickey.

"The reality is that Syria is in the middle of a complex internal struggle with a divided opposition, regional players with diverse agendas, and competing great powers. There's no single force on the ground--or constellation of outside powers--that can impose order. For the United States to enter the fray as a quasi-combatant would make matters more complicated, not less," writes Aaron David Miller for ForeignPolicy.com.

Top of the Agenda: Iran Expands Nuclear Capacity, Report Says

The International Atomic Energy agency is expected to report next week that Iran has installed hundreds of new centrifuges (LAT) at its underground Fordow facility and has increased uranium enrichment capability at its Natanz facility. Such moves could shorten the time Tehran needs for nuclear weaponization and could stoke Israel's fears that Iran is reaching an "immunity zone," a point at which an Israeli military attack couldn't seriously cripple Iran's nuclear program. Iran claims it is pursuing nuclear power for peaceful ends. IAEA officials Friday began new talks with Iran aimed at resolving questions about the possible military aspects of its nuclear program.

Analysis

"The White House has loudly promoted its success in passing several rounds of UN Security Council resolutions sanctioning Iran, and believes diplomatic avenues have not yet been exhausted. Barak, Netanyahu and fellow advocates of a strike -- reportedly as many as 11 of the 14 members of the Security Cabinet -- are convinced sanctions have been ineffective, negotiations are at a dead end and military action inevitable," writes Oren Kessler on Foreign Policy's web site.

"Many Western observers of Iran don't understand that its foreign policy has been fashioned largely to sustain an ideological identity. Thus, we can't understand Iran's foreign relations and its evident hostility by just assessing its international environment or the changing Mideast power balance," writes CFR's Ray Takeyh in the National Interest.

"Sanctions are raising the cost of the nuclear program for the Iranian regime and damaging its prestige at home and its influence abroad. Iranian leaders might not be willing to scrap their nuclear program, but they have not yet decided to build actual nuclear weapons. The mounting sanctions are likely making them even warier," note James Dobbins and Alireza Nader on ForeignAffairs.com.

US: ‘Hizbullah plans terrorist attacks in Europe’

On Friday, Hillary Clinton’s senior counter-terrorism adviser, Zionist Jew Daniel Benjamin while announcing US State Department’s new sanctions against Hizbullah, Syria and Iran – told reporters that Islamic resistance organization Hizbullah may hit Israel, Jewish and American interests in Europe and around the world.

“Our assessment is that Hezbollah and Iran will both continue to maintain a heightened level of terrorist activity and operations in the near future. We are increasingly concerned about Hezbollah’s activities on a number of fronts, including its stepped up terrorist campaign around the world. And we assess that Hezbollah could attack in Europe or elsewhere at any time with little or no warning,” said Daniel.

Interestingly, Hizbullah has been carrying-out military resistance against the Zionist entity since 1980s, but has never carried a suicide bombing attack against Jews or assassinated any foreign leader or scientist – which happens to be the hall-mark of Israel.

Hizbullah is the most organized political and social organization with an armed resistance wing. It’s part of the current Lebanese government with three cabinet ministers (2 Shias and 1 Sunni) – and 11 MPs in country’s parliament. Hizbullah is declared as a ‘terrorist group’ by Israel, the US and Canada among the 192 United Nations member countries.

Last month, European Union rejected Israeli demand to declare Hizbullah as a ‘terrorist organization’. Hizbullah is the only Arab armed group which has defeated Israel twice – in 2000 and 2006.

Israel was behind the assassination of Hizbullah leaders Abbas al-Musawi (1992) and Imad Fayez Mughniyah (2008). Israeli Mossad was also behind the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri in 2005.

According to US-Israeli Jewish blogger Richard Silverstein Iran’s deputy defense minister Gen. Ali Reza Asgari was kidnapped by Israeli agents and murdered in jail in 2010. In January 2012, Richard Silverstein also claimed that Israel was behind the assassinations of Iranian scientists. Richard also wrote on August 12, 2012 that part of George Bush’s $400 million (2007) for covert ops to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program ended up in Mossad’s operating budget.

Thirtynine years ago, Israel’s defense minister Ehud Barak as commander of the elite Sayeret Matkal IDF commando unit, lead a assassination squad to Beirut to kill three senior PLO leaders. “In order to avoid suspicion, some of the Sayeret Matkal troops, including Barak, donned wigs, dressed as women and walked lovingly arm-in-arm with their non-costumed male counterparts,” reported by Israel Defense Force blog on April 9, 2012. Barak’s colleagues included Gen. Amnon Lipkin-Shahak who succeeded Barak as Israel Occupation Force (IOF) Chief of Staff in 1995 – and Yoni Netanyahu, brother of Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Yoni was killed during Israeli false flag operation at Entebbe (Uganda) airport in 1976.

Syrian diplomat: ‘My soul is not for sale’

How some of Arab Sunni rulers stoop to please their western masters? Qatar’s pro-USrael ruling Thani family is one of the cases in point. Qatar has funded Salafi-Wahabi armed gangsters in Libya against Libyan leader Qaddafi last year. The Thani family has loaned its Al-Jazeera network to demonize anti-Israel leaders, such as, Qaddafi, Ahmadinejad, Sheikh Nasrallah, al-Maliki and Bashar al-Assad. Thani family even tried to bribe Taliban to live in peace with US-NATO occupation in Afghanistan

Currently, the Thani family along with its Wahabi Saudi family is bankrolling rebels in Syria - who have killed tens of thousands of Shia Alawites, Sunnis and Christians soldiers and civilians. Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the ‘Axis of Evil’ are desperately fighting the ‘Axis of Resistance’ (Syria, Hizbullah and Iran) in order to install a pro-Israel regime in Damascus and isolate the country from the Islamic Republic.

Not only Qatar is involved in supplying arms and money to the armed foreign insurgents in Syria – it’s also offering bribes to high-ranking Syrian officials in return for their defections. Fars News Agency has reported that Thani family has allocated $300 million for this purpose. I few months ago, Qatar promised Hamas leaders $250 million to move their head office out of Syria.

Qatar’s latest ‘bribe for defection’ case involved Syrian ambassador to Mauritania, Hamad Seed Albni, who was offered one million dollar in advance , a monthly salary of $20,000 over 20 years and a permanent residence in Doha – as a reward for his defection and voicing support for the rebels.

Hamad Seed Albni reportedly rejected Qatari offer, calling it a “blatant interference” in Syria’s affairs and warned not to come up with such initiatives anymore.

In March 20o9, Mauritania’s government gave Zionist entity 48 hours to close-down its 10-year-old embassy in Nouakchott and its staff to leave Mauritania.

However, some others did not have the moral courage to reject such offers. Diplomats representing Syria in the United Arab Emirates and Iraq, Abdel Latif al-Dabbagh and Nawaf al-Fares, quit their posts and so did the country’s former Prime Minister Riyad Hijab.

The agenda of the ‘Axis of Evil’ was spilled out by Israel’s deputy foreign minister Danny Ayalon on Friday. He predicted that the western post-Assad plan calls for the fragmentation of Syria into Alawite, Sunni, Druze and Kurd provinces. He added that a similar fate is awaiting for Lebanon in the near future. Ayalon ruled out the possibility of the emergence of an Arab alliance that would stand in opposition to Israel in the next 10 to 15 years.

“After their internal instability, the Arab countries will realize the importance of cooperating with Israel,” boasted Ayalon.

US lawmakers are afraid to admit Israel’s nukes

Every political aware person knows that Israel is the only country in the Middle East which has nuclear bombs (240-400) – but American lawmakers including president Barack Obama are afraid to talk about it. The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) has reported that Washington by 1975 was convinced that Israel had nuclear weapons. On December 8, 1960, the CIA issued a report outlining Dimona’s implications for nuclear proliferation, and the CIA station in Tel Aviv had determined by the mid-1960s that the Israeli nuclear weapons program was an established and irreversible fact.

Peter McKay wrote in pro-Israel British daily Mail Online (February 20, 2012) that “Israelis and Americans threaten to bomb Iran, creating a new Middle East war. They say it might be necessary to delay or destroy regime’s ability to build nuclear weapons. Though the US and Israel possess weapon, both says Iran must not be allowed to have any because its president , Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has vowed to wipe Israel of the map“. Historically, it’s Israel which has wiped 3000-year-old Palestine off the map in May 1948.

Professor David Morrison (Trent University, Canada. His wife Dr. Alena Heitlinger also teaches at Trent) says that Israel has nuclear weapons, perhaps as many as 400 of them and receives $3 billion military aid annually from the United States – and both threaten Islamic Republic which even they cannot prove that Iran is in the process of making its first nuclear bomb. Interestingly, when David Morrison wrote on September 15, 2010 – that ‘Iranian Jews are happy at home’ – he was chased by Israel Hasbara goons for making such ‘anti-Semitic’ statement. In fact, Morrison had quoted Jewish MP Morris Motamed, representing 25,000-strong Iranian Jewish community in Iranian Majlis (parliament) saying that the US Jewish organization’s offer of $6o,000 to each Iranian Jew who leave Iran, as “insulting”, adding that “Iran’s Jews have always been free to emigrate and three-quarters of them did so after 1979 revolution but 70% of them went to American, not Israel”.
Washington have deployed four aircraft carriers, USS John C. Stennis, USS Enterprise, USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Eisenhower along with F-22 fighter jets in the waters off the coast of Islamic Republic. They’re there to protect “Israel’s right to exist” against possible Iran’s non-existent WMDs. However, the US soldiers are so paranoid of Iran’s small boats that in the second week of July, they shot a fishing boat off the coast of Dubai, from USNS Rappahannock – killing one Indian fisherman Arumugam Sekhar while three other fishermen from Tamil Nadu were seriouly injuried. According to US report the boat was mistaken for Iranian attack. The survivors of the attack told the media that the ship quickly sailed away leaving the bullet-ridden boat and the injured to their fate. The Indian Ambassador to the UAE, M.K. Lokesh refused to logue protest to the local US embassy and India’s External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna merely described the incident as “unfortunate”. However, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has sought the intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, requesting that he take up the issue with Washington.

Finian Cunningham, a specialist on the region, wrote that the attack on the UAE fishing boat “not only raises questions about criminal disregard for civilian life but it also points out to the Pentagon’s reckless militarisation of the strategic waterway”. Before the killing of the Indian fishermen, the US Navy had put its personnel on “hair-trigger alert” to respond to alleged threats.

Morsi coup: A game of ‘musical chairs’

On August 13, in a bold move, the newly elected Egyptian President Dr. Mohamed Morsi sacked several top ruling military junta (SCAF) leaders and re-assigned them to civilian positions. The list included pro-USrael defense minister and head of military junta, FM Hussein Tantawi, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Sami Anan, and commanders of Navy, Air Defense and Air Force.

Both dismissed Tantawi and Anan have been re-appointed as presidential advisers. Lt. Gen. Sidki Sayed Ahmed was named as Anan’s replacement. Morsi also appointed a senior judge, Mahmoud Mekki, as vice-president, Gen. Mohamed El Assar as deputy defense minister, Gen. Mohab Mamish as the CEO of Suez Canal authority and Abdel Mabrouk as Governor of North Sinai. All decisions are effective immediately.

Interestingly, these changes did no raised eye-brows in Washington or Tel Aviv. However, thousands of Egyptians did celebrate the announcement on Sunday night in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

Israel-Firster Jew, David Ignatius, writing in the Washington Post (August 12, 2012) said that the US has confidence in the the installation of new defense minister Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who has had extensive contacts with Washington. The Time of Israel has reported that Israel too has confidence in al-Sisi as “he is well acquainted with Israel’s security elites – from defense ministry policy director Amos Gilad to Netanyahu’s special envoy Yitzhak Molcho – and of course Israel’s defense minister Gen. Ehud Barak“.

Hillary Clinton’s deputy, Jew Willian Burn met Morsi last month in Cairo and presented him Obama’s invitation to meet the US president at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York next month.

Dr. George Friedman, the Zionist Jew Founder and CEO of US based intelligence firm Stratfor, wrote on August 14, under heading, ‘The Israeli Crisis’, saying that Morsi’s coup is “all part of an agreement between the military and the Muslim Brotherhood that gives Morsi the appearance of greater power while actually leaving power with the military”. Friedman also admitted that Israel cannot survive without the help of the United States. “It is important to take into account the American role in this, because ultimately Israel’s national security – particularly if its strategic environment deteriorates – rests on the United States“.

I believe a genuine Arab democracy is Zionism’s worst nightmare – and America’s world-renowned Jewish philosopher Noam Chomsky, too, agree with me on that. Therefore, Morsi’s coup is nothing but the implementation of US-Israeli evil plan of replacing the unpopular pro-West dictorial regimes in the Muslim world with the pro-West ‘moderate Islamist regimes’. We see it also happened in Turkey, Yemen, Tunisia and Libya in the past. The idea is to pre-empt genuine Islamists coming into power via democracy or revolution, as is the case in Bahrain, Somalia, Pakistan, Bosnia and Lebanon.

It’s very important for the readers to know that the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ is based on the Israeli strategist, Oded Yinon’s 1982 theory . It was cooked-up a few years ago, during a meeting in New York city by the US State Department, CIA, Mossad and several Zionist Jewish heads of social network sites. Yinon theory calls for the break-up Middle countries into small statelets like Bahrain and that Israel should not only regain control of Sinai but also encourage the creation of a dominantly Coptic state in Upper Egypt. Yinon advised Israel against giving up any of the land it occupied. Interestingly, Yinon makes none of the conventional arguments related to Israel’s biblical claims. Instead, he offers arguments of a mainly economic nature. He says that Israel needs an increasing supply of energy, especially oil and gas, and some of the mineral resources of Sinai. Those resources, he argues, are essential to Israel’s strategy and independence.

Dr. Franklin Lamb in his recent article has claimed that Morsi’s move and the events in the Sinai Peninsula could make Egypt join the Axis of Resistance (Iran, Hizbullah, Hamas and Syria). I sincerely hope that Dr. Lamb is right and I’m wrong.

According to Dr. Lamb, Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood and even a US Congress official have blamed Israeli Mossad for the recent terrorist attack on Sinai border police. “There has been a relentless campaign by Zionist leaders since Mubaraks ouster, to weaken the Egyptian public’s determination to isolate Israel and cancel their governments relations with the occupiers of Palestine,” wrote Dr. Lamb.

“Unfortunately, following the most recent operation the Rafah crossing has been indefinitely closed just like it was under the deposed Egyptian president which will cause great hardship to Gazans and amounts to nothing less than Israeli style “collective punishment” as claimed by Musa Abu Marzouk, a senior Hamas official.

The very mention of Adolf Hiter, reminds westerners the ‘Jewish Holocaust’, though his Nazi troopers killed more Gypsies and Christians than they killed Jews. Strangely, while the Zionists expects every human-being to remember Hitler as an evil person – there are many people who adore Hitler without hating Jews. For example, authors Hennecke Kardel has called Hitler “Founder of Israel” while Dr. Bryan Mark Rigg wrote that Hitler was quite popular among the German Jews and 150,000 whom served in the Nazi Army. Hitler is very popular in India. Bollywood even produced a movie, titled Dear Friend Hitler. Currently, Indian TV is running a soap opera, originally named Hitler Didi but after American Jewish lobby groups threatened Indian government – its name was changed to ‘General Didi‘.

The Zionist-controlled media will never mention that Jewish terrorist groups Irgun, Haganah and others cooperated with Nazis. In fact the rise of Nazism and Hitler to power was never, or almost never, opposed by the Zionists prior to the establishment of the Zionist entity. On October 2, 1937, two SS officers, Herbert Hagen and Adolf Eichmann visited British occupied Palestine as guests of the World Zionist Congress, founded in 1897. Some years later, when Eichmann was hiding in Argentina, he taped a story of his excursion to Palestine, stating:

“I did see enough to be very impressed with the way the Jewish colonists were building up their land. In the years that followed I often said to Jews with whom I had dealings that had I been a Jew, I would have been a fanatical Zionist,” said Eichman who was excuted by the Zionist regime in 1961 for ‘war crimes’.

The Zionist-controlled western mainstream media while vilifying Adolph Hitler – never tells us that Christian Barack Obama, Mormon Mitt Romney, Jewish Ayan Rand and other statists share their deep commitment to Social Security and government-provided healthcare with Hitler. For example, like Obama and Romney – Hitler too believed that it was the rightful duty of government to manage an economy, including by creating jobs for the citizenry. Hitler’s primary means of creating jobs was to build and maintain a powerful military establishment within Germany. That’s also what Obama and Romney believe – that America’s vast military-industrial complex and overseas military empire is a grand way to reduce unemployment.

Hitler in a letter he wrote commending Roosevelt on his New Deal programs: “The public weal before the private gain“.

Hitler loved his mother Klara (died 1907) so much that he carried her photograph wherever he went and had in his hand when he died in 1945. Hitler won five medals including the prestigious Iron Cross during the WW I.

Pakistani pilots who shot-down 10 Israeli jets

On August 14, Pakistan celebrated its 65th Birthday. One thing missing during the celebration, as in the past, is media’s not mentioning of stories of many Pakistani pilots who acted beyond their duty to defend brotherly Arab nations from Israeli attacks.

During the so-called ‘Six Day War‘ (1967) which generated American Jewish support for the Zionist entity for the first time – Pakistani pilot Saiful Azam joined tiny Jordanian Airforce. On June 5, Saiful Azam engaged four Israeli jets over Jordanian Mafraq air base. He shot down a Mystére commanded by Israeli pilot H. Boleh and damaged another that crash-landed in Israeli territory. Two days later, Jordanian airforce commander sent Saiful Azam to help Iraqi airforce. While piloting the Iraqi Hunter Azam shot down two of the Israeli attacking planes. Pakistani pilots shot down a total of ten Israeli jets during 1967 war without losing a pilot or aircraft.

Saiful Azam, native of East Pakistan – joined Bangladesh Air Force in 1971. Both the US and Israel helped India to create Bangladesh out of East Pakistan. Saiful Azam has the unique honor of the only pilot in the world who downed four Israeli jets – and served in four airforces; Pakistan, Jordan, Iraq and Bangladeshi. He also hold world record of shooting-down three kinds of military aircrafts in two different air forces.

During October 1973 Israel’s Yom Kippur war on its Arab neighboring countries – A squadron of Pakistan’s Pakistan Air Force (PAF) arrived in Syria to fight alongside the SAF and halt the Israeli advance over the Golan Heights. The PAF pilots Sattar Alvi and Arif Mansoor, engaged and shot down an Israeli F-4 Phantom over Egyptian airspace. Another dogfight between the PAF and IAF over Syrian airspace came to a memorable end with Pakistan obliterating the Israeli Mirage IICJ flown by M. Lutz with air-to-air missiles. This was enough to convince other Israeli fighter planes to bug out and abort all further incursions into Syria.

Other Pakistani pilots who joined Syrian force as volunteers included future Air Marshal Nur Khan, Salem Metla, Shahbaz Khan, Wisaam Faris and Wisaam Shuja’at. Late President of Syria Hafiz Assad awarded two of the pilots country’s highest decorations for gallantry.

Pakistani air force states that all its 12 volunteer pilots scored direct hits against Israeli aircrafts and suffered no losses. During the 1973 war, Flt. Lt. A. Sattar Alvi became the first Pakistani pilot, flying a Syrian aircraft to shoot down an Israeli Mirage in air combat. Similarly on the Egyptian front, PAF pilot Flt. Lt. M. Hatif , flying an Egyptian MiG-21 shot down an Israeli F-4 phantom in an air combat. Pakistani Air Force did not lose a single pilot or aircraft in any of the wars.

Israel is afraid of Hizbullah

Last month, the European Union turned down Israeli request to declare Lebanese Islamic Resistance group Hizbullah “a terrorist organization”.

“There is no consensus for putting Hezbollah on the list of terrorist organisations,” said Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, whose country currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

As a result, some paranoid Zionist idiot by the name Nicholas Kulish whined at The New York Times (August 15, 2012) that thousands of Hizbullah members and supporters in Europe raise money that is funneled to the leadership in Lebanon. However, he did not mentioned if the the amount funneled to Hizbullah leadership is greater than US$6-14 billion funneled to Israel each year by the US government, Israeli lobby groups and Israel’s supporters.

Nicholas Kulish also claim that had EU declared Hizbullah a terrorist organization, it would have “destroyed Hizbullah”. In other words what 30,000-strong Jewish army could not achieve during the 34-day war in 2006 – EU’s declaration would have done it. First of all, Hizbullah doesn’t receive money from EU but Israel does. Furthermore, Hizbullah’ main backer, Iran is under EU’s several ‘Crippling Sanctions‘. To prove his case against Hizbullah, Nicholas Kulish, quoted several sources from the US State Department and European think tanks – all Zionist Jew individuals.

The EU is not an ‘honest broker’ when it comes to Israel-Arab conflicts. Most of the EU countries are ruled by Zionist-controlled politicians who would rather let Arabs pay for the Europeans’ past crimes against Jewish communities which were expelled 108 times from European countries. Furthermore, several polls had proved that a great majority of Europeans still don’t trust Jews – and therefore, they would not accept Israeli Jews back.

A 2003 poll conducted by Taylor Nelson Sofres/ EOS Gallup Europe in October 2003 among 15 EU countries showed that 57% of participants considered Israel to be the greatest threat to world peace. Early this year, Israel lobby group, Anti-Defamation League (ADL) released the results of its survey among EU countries. It showed that great majority of participants considered Jews more loyal to Israel than the countries they live in. Hungary (63%) topped hatred toward Jews and Israel followed by Spain (53%), Poland (48%), France (45%), Austria (28%), Germany (21%) and UK (10%) among the ten EU countries polled. A 2011 survey conducted among eight European Union (EU) nations by Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung, a prestigious Berlin-based think tank, associated with German Opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP), had found that 72.2% of Polish people believed that “Jews try to take advantage of having been victims during the Nazi era”. 68.1% Hungarians and 49.8% German participants agreed with Polish view.

On August 14, Hizbullah members and supporters celebrated the ‘Victory Day’. The event signifies Hizbullah victory over Israel in Summer 2006. It was the 5th Israeli war on Lebanon. Since then the Zionist entity did not attack Lebanon. The Resistance won for the second time. Hizbullah is not just a Shia resistance group as the western and Salafi-Wahabi propagandists like people to believe. In reality, Hizbullah, is a national resistance movement which have members and supporters from all sectors of Lebanese population, Shias, Sunnies, Christians and even atheist Ba’athists.

In November 2010 – Dr. Franklin Lamb wrote that Israel doesn’t know how to defeat Hizbullah.

“Increasingly during the 33 day July 2006 War, Israeli forces refused orders to advance against Hezbollah fighters, happily opting for 14 day jail sentences for failure to obey orders. Concerning IDF recruitment and AWOL problems, according to IDF Captain Arye Shalicar of the IDF Recruitment Fraud unit, it is US taxpayers who foot the bill for eight companies of private investigators recently hired to track down Israeli draft dodgers. The popular social networking site, Facebook, is being used to track down thousands who lied about being religiously observant and seeking to avoid facing Hezbollah,” added Dr. Lamb.

“Hizbollah, has smashed the myth of Israel’s invincibility, broken the barrier of fear, increased the popular demand for resistance, exposed the fake peace process and rejected appeasement, acquiescence and surrender. Hezbollah forces taught the world that Arabs can and will liberate Palestine because they possess the qualities and acumen to do it. The kings and the presidents in the region, who for six decades chose their thrones over Jerusalem quake as does Israel,” says Dr. Lamb.

Gen. Dempsey: ‘Israel can’t defeat Iran’

On Tuesday, America’s top soldier, Gen. Martin Dempsey in a news conference attended by US defense secretary Leon Panetta, said: “Israel can delay but not destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities“.

Attila Somfalvi in Israeli daily YNet, interpreted Dempsey’s remark as a warning to the Zionist regime that without American military help, Jewish army cannot defeat Iran.

“The general’s remark was not a slip-of-the-tongue. It was a calculated statement from a general of Irish descent and character. His words constituted a slap in Israel’s face, a punch in the face, and a kick to the most sensitive part of the body. To be more precise, the US slammed Israel’s head against the wall and said: “Shut up. Stop babbling about Iran. Without us there is not much you can do, and don’t assume for a second that we are dancing to your tune. You shouldn’t do anything stupid, and stop driving the entire world crazy,” wrote Attila Somfalvi.

It’s not the first time Gen. Dempsey has ruffed Zionists’ feathers. In 2008, Dempsey’s evaluation of Islamic Republic was: ““We are of the opinion that Iran is a rational player“. This remark angered Zionist Jew head of powerful US think tank, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Dr. Richard N. Haass who slammed Dempsy on MSNBC, saying: “To call Iran a rational actor is code talk. Let me just make it clear, if you call them rational, that means that deterrence works and that means that you’re willing to live with an Iran that has nuclear weapons“.

In February 2012 – Gen. Dempsey denounced a strike on Iran in the near future as “destabilizing” and “not prudent” while speaking to CNN’s Zionist propagandist Fareed Zakaria. Netanyahu had slammed Dempsey’s statement, saying: ”The US is adopting policies that will favor Iran, and not their historical ally: Israel”.

Interestingly, last month, three former CIA high-ranking officials, including a station chief in Israel, claimed that they’re victims of Israeli espionage agencies. In other words, America’s so-called “historic ally”, doesn’t trust US intelligence agency which has cooperated slavishly with Israeli spy agencies for decades.

On August 16 – Israeli newspaper the Globes reported Opposition Kadima Party leader, Tehran-born Gen. Shaul Mofaz comments in Knesset on Netanyahu’s war rants against Iran: “You’re creating panic. You’re trying to terrify us. And we are scared by your lack of judgement.You are headed for a rash confrontation at an unnecessary cost while abandoning the home front”.

This week, Netanyahu’ office issued a stinking rebuke to Israel’s president and war-criminal, Shimon Peres, after he said that Israel should not attack Iran alone. “Shimon Peres forgets what the role of President of Israel is,” an official from Netanyahu office said – as reported by Israeli daily Ha’aretz, August 16, 2012.

Last week, Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonoth reported that defense minister Ehud Barak had gathered senior army generals twice (the latest meeting took place at Mossad headquarters) in order to obtain their support for a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. He met fierce opposition on both occasions; the Jewish army was very reluctant to carry out the attack in the absence of American participation in the attack.

A recent poll conducted by Israeli daily Maariv reported that 41% Israelis believe that Israel leave the mission of stopping Iran aquiring ‘nuclear capability’ to United States and the international community – while 33% believe that Israel should act alone to ‘save Jews from the second (in reality enless) Holocaust.

On August 15, Jewish-controlled BBC posted an interview with American Jewish journalist and blogger Richard Silverstein in which he claimed that in order counter cabinet-military opposition to war with Iran – Netanyahu had leaked out a faked ‘briefing memo’. The memo shows that both Israeli cabinet and military leaders agree with Netanyahu-Barak plan to attack Iran – and that an attack on Iran would go “smoothly” and wipe out key infrastructure with a minimum of Israeli casualties. However, there was no mention of a certain military response from Iran, Hizbullah, Hamas or Syria.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking to reporters said that the International Al-Quds Day is “the day for nations’ public movement to liberate the entire human society from all types of modern times’ slavery“. However, as usual, the Washington-based taxpayers’ subsidised and owned by Israeli Colonel Yigal Carmon, Middle East Media Research Institute (Memri), translated Ahmadinejad’s remark from Persian to English: ”Ahmadinejad called for the destruction of Israel“.

Persosally, I believe that the war plan against Iran has been put on the ‘waiting list’ for the time-being. However, judging by the past record of the powerful Jewish lobby – it will return, perhaps after the US is done with Syria and Pakistan. The lobby once set its target, from Germany to Libya – has never failed destroying those nations.

Gen. Dempsey: ‘Israel can’t defeat Iran’

In February 2012 – Gen. Dempsey denounced a strike on Iran in the near future as “destabilizing” and “not prudent” while speaking to CNN’s Zionist propagandist Fareed Zakaria. Netanyahu had slammed Dempsey’s statement, saying: ”The US is adopting policies that will favor Iran, and not their historical ally: Israel”.

Interestingly, last month, three former CIA high-ranking officials, including a station chief in Israel, claimed that they’re victims of Israeli espionage agencies. You’re trying to terrify us. And we are scared by your lack of judgement.You are headed for a rash confrontation at an unnecessary cost while abandoning the home front”.

This week, Netanyahu’ office issued a stinking rebuke to Israel’s president and war-criminal, Shimon Peres, after he said that Israel should not attack Iran alone. “Shimon Peres forgets what the role of President of Israel is,” an official from Netanyahu office said – as reported by Israeli daily Ha’aretz, August 16, 2012.

Last week, Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonoth reported that defense minister Ehud Barak had gathered senior army generals twice (the latest meeting took place at Mossad headquarters) in order to obtain their support for a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. He met fierce opposition on both occasions; the Jewish army was very reluctant to carry out the attack in the absence of American participation in the attack.

A recent poll conducted by Israeli daily Maariv reported that 41% Israelis believe that Israel leave the mission of stopping Iran aquiring ‘nuclear capability’ to United States and the international community – while 33% believe that Israel should act alone to ‘save Jews from the second (in reality enless) Holocaust.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking to reporters said that the International Al-Quds Day is “the day for nations’ public movement to liberate the entire human society from all types of modern times’ slavery“. However, as usual, the Washington-based taxpayers’ subsidised and owned by Israeli Colonel Yigal Carmon, Middle East Media Research Institute (Memri), translated Ahmadinejad’s remark from Persian to English: ”Ahmadinejad called for the destruction of Israel“.

Persosally, I believe that the war plan against Iran has been put on the ‘waiting list’ for the time-being. However, judging by the past record of the powerful Jewish lobby – it will return, perhaps after the US is done with Syria and Pakistan. Islamabad—An Indian nuclear scientist’s laptop with classified nuclear data was stolen from a passenger rail car and is still missing raising serious alarm all over India.

According to a report the Indian nuclear researcher raised an alarm when his laptop, reportedly filled with critical data, was stolen on March 15, 2012 and remained missing till date.

India Blooms News Service reported that the scientist, who is reportedly involved with the Kaiga atomic power plant in Karnataka, demanded that train officials find his laptop and other stolen personal effects that included identifying documents. It is believed that the laptop contained secret nuclear codes and possibly the blue-print of Kairga Atomic Plant.

The report added that Thiruvananthapuram-bound train was stopped and several passengers were searched and interviewed but the laptop could not be found. Rajdhani Express was forced to have emergency

halt at Ratnagiri Station (Maharashtra) when a nuclear scientist’s laptop containing vital information was stolen.

According to latest reports despite emergency search raids conducted on train it did not turn up any clues as to what happened to the stolen laptop.

Law enforcement officials have opened an investigation into the matter and began detaining potential perpetrators.

The scientist who was not named for secrecy and classified works told Police that he had also lost very important credential papers. Indian railway officials have confirmed that a report has been lodged but other senior police officials were trying to hide the scandal-like incident and advised journalists not to overplay the issue.—PPA

Iran Test-Fires Ballistic Missile Able To Hit Israel

Iran on Tuesday test-fired in its central desert a ballistic missile capable of striking Israel as part of war games designed to show its ability to retaliate if attacked, media said.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard fired the medium-range Shahab-3 missile at a mock target in the Kavir Desert on the second day of its Great Prophet 7 exercise, which is due to end on Wednesday, Iran’s Al-Alam television network reported.

The Shahab-3 has a range of up to 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles), which means it is theoretically able to hit Israel, which is some 1,000 kilometres away.

Al-Alam said two short-range missiles, the Shahab-1 and Shahab-2, with ranges of 300 to 500 kilometres, were also launched. The Fars news agency said “dozens of short-, medium-, and long-range missiles have been fired from different parts of Iran at a single target in Kavir.”

The ISNA news agency said the last day of the drill would see Revolutionary Guard “bomber drones” also used. Although the Islamic republic has test-fired its Shahab missiles before, and frequently holds military manoeuvres, it says these war games are aimed at sending a message to Israel and the United States to think twice on their threats of possibly attacking Iran.

The Great Prophet 7 exercise targeted a replica military base set up in a desert and made to look like a foreign facility, similar to those the United States has in neighbouring countries such as Afghanistan.

The launch of the Shahab-3 missile coincided with the day official experts from Iran and world powers were to hold talks in Istanbul to discuss the West’s push to have Tehran scale back its sensitive nuclear programme.

Israel, which is not part of the talks, and its ally the United States have both said they reserve the option of launching military action on Iran if diplomacy and sanctions fail to convince it to curb its atomic activities.



The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran today fired series of Ballistic Missiles from a desert in central Iranian province of Semnan.

The Missiles were fired at a hypothetical enemy air base in Iran’s Lut Desert. Iran’s Fars News agency stated that all the Missiles hit the target with “100% accuracy”.

The series of Ballistic Missiles launched today included Iran’s short, Mid and Long range Missile, named Shahab 1, 2 and 3, Fateh, Qiyam, Persian Gulf and Zelzal.

The longest range missile fired today was Shahab-III which has a maximum range of 2000km but it traveled 1300km to hit its target in central Iran.

Note: Shahab-3 is capable of hitting Israel.

Iran missiles can hit all US bases in region: Cmdr.

A senior Iranian commander says the country’s missiles can obliterate the US military bases in regional countries within minutes of an attack on Iran.

Referring to the existence of 35 US military bases in the region, Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s Aerospace Division Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said, “The (US) bases are all within the reach of our missiles.”

“Measures have been devised to set up bases and deploy missiles within the first minutes of an attack to obliterate all these (US) bases,” he said, adding that Iranian missiles could also easily reach Israel.

The senior commander also made a reference to Iran’s successful launch of ballistic missiles during ‘the Great Prophet 7’ drill and said all the missiles, which were launched from different locations in the country, successfully hit a designated target that resembled the air bases of foreign countries in the region.

Hajizadeh said that ‘the Great Prophet 7’ maneuvers were different from the previous ones as all missiles used in the recent exercise were fired at a single target from different locations not a single spot.

The three-day IRGC missile drill, named ‘the Great Prophet 7,’ started in the central Iranian province of Semnan wrapped on Wednesday.

The indigenous missiles, including Shahab (Meteor) 1, 2, 3, Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), Tondar (Lightning), Fateh (Victor) and Zelzal (Quake) as well as Qiam (Uprising) were fired at mock targets during the drill as IRGC’s fighter jets and drones also hit the spots.

Over the recent years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly made clear that its military might is merely based on the nation’s defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries, in particular regional states.
